One more thing to do in Costa Rica – tour the Starbucks farm
Today Starbucks opened the doors to its visitor center at Hacienda Alsacia, located on the company’s 600-acre coffee farm on the slopes of Volcan Poas. Hacienda Alsacia is a working farm that has served as a global research and development facility for Starbucks since 2013.
Open to the public, visitors now have the chance to experience coffee from seed to cup, looking at the entire process and ending at a coffee shop where they can taste the final product. Visitors can tour the space on their own or with a guide, visiting everything from a seedling nursery to fields filled with ripe cherries ready to harvest.
Starbucks has been operating stores in Costa Rica with its license partner – Premium Restaurants of America, and has now 11 stores in addition to the new visitor center at Hacienda Alsacia.
The next time you go to Costa Rica, you may want to add this to your to-do list. Read more about it here.
