Playwright D.L. Coburn won the Pulitzer Prize in 1978 for THE GIN GAME, which will perform at the Sierra Madre Playhouse from Sep. 8 to Oct. 6, 2018. It will be directed by Christian Lebano.

In THE GIN GAME, Weller Martin tries desperately to retain some control over his life despite falling ill and becoming a reluctant resident of a nursing home. Fonsia Dorsey serves as the symbol of all gone wrong, and his battles with her, though over a simple game of gin, become not only a conflict with the woman but with divine will itself.

The fantastic L.A. actor Alan Blumenfeld will star as Weller for this production. He has appeared in over 40 feature films and over 130 television episodes, but is possibly most familiar to national audiences for his role as Maury Parkman in the TV series Heroes. Katherine James will star as Fonsia. She is the author of numerous plays, a director, an actress, and also Alan Blumenfeld’s wife. Understand from this that this Sierra Madre Playhouse production will provide you with the opportunity to see exceptional artists stage an intimate classic of the American theater.

THE GIN GAME opens Sep. 8 at 8:00 p.m. Thereafter, performances will be on Sundays at 2:30 p.m., Fridays at 8:00 p.m., and Saturdays at 2:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. The play will close Saturday, Oct. 6. Tickets are $40 general / seniors (65+) $36 / youth (22 and under) $25. You can reserve by calling (626) 355-4318 or online at
