Does it feel like you’ve already seen every Christmas play ever written? Chances are that you haven’t yet seen the one now performing at the Sierra Madre Playhouse (SMP) – EVERY CHRISTMAS STORY EVER TOLD (AND THEN SOME!). This play, written by Michael Carleton, Jim Fitzgerald, and John K. Alvarez, with original music by Will Knapp, debuted in New Jersey in 2003. It’s being performed at SMP for the first time, directed by Gary Lamb.

The show, with Sean Paxton on piano, stars Garrett Botts, Philip Rossi, and Dale Sandlin. They get every “BHC,” (as they call them, meaning Beloved Holiday Classics) – such as A Christmas Carol, It’s a Wonderful Life, Frosty, Rudolph, and Charlie Brown – and put them in a blender to create a new show that is festive, appropriate for the season, and on top of it, funny. The audience becomes part of it as the performers ask it questions, invite it on stage, and, at one point, is even turned into a “PHILharmonic.” This is a production meant for the entire family that will be best enjoyed by those who think they have seen every Christmas play and film out there and are ready to have some fun with it.
