The Korean Friendship Bell was gifted to Los Angeles in 1976 in celebration of the U.S. bicentennial, and as a show of friendship from South Korea. Both the bell and the pagoda were conceptualized and built by Korean architects and artists.

The location is 3601 S Gaffey St, San Pedro, CA 90731. Last Saturday, the entrance from Gaffey St. was closed. If that’s the case when you visit, gain access from Paseo del Mar by parking at the Joan Milke Flores Park. From the parking lot you can follow the walkway or go rogue by climbing the hill. The bell is pretty, and there’s no admission cost. Additionally, the view of the ocean from up there is fabulous.

As far as keeping yourself healthy, wear a mask. There are other visitors, but not in excess.

This is a great stop that can be easily added to a second activity in the San Pedro area; a hike of the Fowler Trail, for example.
