Spring Hill is one of the nicest areas in the west side of Mobile. It’s rather a quiet section of town, so we were quite surprised to find this lively watering hole at the top of the hill.

POST on the Hill looks like a house-turned-bar with tables in its multiple rooms and a substantial outdoor area. Its patrons are a majority of young, good looking people who delight in coffee martinis and other craft cocktails. We enjoyed delicious gin martinis with enormous olives, and I had my first ever Negroni.

A Negroni is an Italian cocktail that mixes gin, semi-sweet vermouth, and Campari, garnished with an orange peel twist. Campari is a reddish Italian liqueur made from alcohol infused with herbs and fruit that ends up giving your drink a pinkish color and a somewhat bitter flavor. If I had to explain the taste I’d call it a bittersweet martini.

Besides interesting cocktails, the bar has an extensive list of beer, wine, and shareable snacks.

POST on the Hill is located at 4513 Old Shell Rd, Mobile, AL 36608. Know that there’s an original POST on Dauphin St. I’ll have to go to that one next!
